a Greenlandic visual Storyteller
The author came across Tikkili Pjettursson’s art 15 years ago, when he first arrived in Uummannaq. Throughout the years he became more and more fascinated by Tikkili’s paintings. They hang in many Uummannaq homes, and by now you also find them in many other places in Greenland and in the rest of the world, far beyond this small northern Greenlandic town where Tikkili has his home.
A presentation of the artist and his work has not previously been published. Nor have exhibitions showing his work been arranged outside of Uummannaq. Undoubtedly, the reason is that his paintings are sold just as quickly as the paint dries on the canvas. He has never had enough paintings in stock for making it possible to arrange and establish an exhibition. This was the challenge that made it clear to the author that it was about time to publish a complete presentation of Tikkili Pjettursson and his works, while it was still possible to dig up a representative selection of his works of art in private collections in Uummannaq.
